The unique conference at the Faculty of Economics

Innovations in education and skills of the future were the topic of a unique conference at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Bratislava in Banská Bystrica.

The Faculty of Economics of the Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica organized the Future of Education & Skills conference on November 21, 2024. The conference focused on trends in education and skills development that are key to the success of graduates on the labor market in the current global environment. The main topic of the conference was discussed in 3 sections, which were attended by experts from practice as well as representatives of the public sector. The aim of the conference was to find an answer to how companies can effectively respond to the changing market and adapt to new needs and what is the role of state administration, local governments and universities in this process.

The keynote speaker of the conference, Ivana Molnárová - a labor market expert, offered her unique perspective on what skills will be crucial for the future success of companies and how to support the development of young talents. The conference also included workshops for students by Pelikán, TRIGON Consulting and Slovenská sporiteľňa. During the panel discussions, we were able to listen to Tatiana Ondrejková (CEO Pelikán), Mikuláš Pál (Vice-President of BBSK for Education, Sports Infrastructure and Employment), Martin Majling (Vice-Mayor of Banská Bystrica) and Igor Patráš (Managing Director TWD) and other great guests who offered original ideas and suggestions on how to respond to developments in the labor market.

“It is crucial for our faculty and the entire university that the educational process reflects the current needs of the labor market. The conference is intended to serve as a platform where the university, companies, the city and the region will openly discuss what needs to be done together to improve the employability of graduates in the labor market and retain the most talented students in our city or region,” said Michal Mešťan, Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Bratislava in Banská Bystrica.

We would like to thank the main partners of the conference Pelicantravel, TRIGON Consulting, Slovenská sporiteľňa and the conference partners TWD SK and Continental.
