Why you should study at the Faculty of Economics?

WHY choose the FoE MBU for your studies? We bring you everything important to make the right decision.

  • WE HAVE THE MOST SATISFIED STUDENTS

The Faculty of Economics of Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica won 1st place in the overall STUDENT SATISFACTION rating of faculties in the field of economics and management! These are the results of the Hodnoť to 2024 survey, in which students expressed their opinion on the quality of higher education in Slovakia. The survey was conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Slovak Republic in cooperation with CVTI SR and SAAVŠ SR.

  • DEMAND FOR OUR GRADUATES ON THE LABOR MARKET

When choosing a university, it is also necessary to take into account the employment of graduates of individual study programs. You can find out what kind of employment you will have if you choose our faculty through the website www.uplatnenie.sk. Our graduates have long been among the most sought-after on the labor market, which is also related to the practical focus of individual study programs at the bachelor's and engineering levels of study.

  • WE CREATE CREATIVE SPACES FOR REST AND LEARNING

In order to increase the satisfaction of students at the Faculty of Economics and make their time at the faculty more enjoyable, a project to build a rest zone was implemented, which was financially supported by the Kaufland Slovakia company. The zone serves as a place of rest for students, where they can spend their free time, work on projects or relax. At the same time, the space is also suitable for teachers, who use it to organize workshops or lectures from practice. In addition to this rest zone in the historical building of the faculty, 3 smaller rest zones were also created in the second, New Building of the faculty.

  • PRACTICALLY ORIENTED STUDY PROGRAMS AND COOPERATION WITH PRACTICE

Our faculty offers practically oriented study programs to applicants. Students have continuous contact with practice during their studies, in the form of lectures from practice, workshops and faculty events such as the Job Fair and conferences. The aim of the Job Fair #FoE MBU is to support the connection between supply and demand on the labor market. Career Days offer companies a unique opportunity to be in contact with students and address them in the form of job offers, part-time jobs, internships, and professional practice. It is also an opportunity to support corporate branding and image and arouse students' interest in working for a given company.

In 2024, we held the Future of Education & Skills conference. The keynote speaker of the conference was Ivana Molnárová - a labor market expert. During the panel discussions, we were able to listen to Tatiana Ondrejková (CEO Pelikán), Mikuláš Pál (Vice-President of BBSK for Education, Sports Infrastructure and Employment), Martin Majling (Vice-Mayor of Banská Bystrica) and Igor Patráš (Managing Director TWD) and other great guests who offered original ideas and suggestions on how to respond to developments in the labor market.

  • MODERN TECHNOLOGIES AS AN INDISPENSABLE PART OF TEACHING

The COVID-19 pandemic has intensified FoE MBU's efforts to modernize classrooms. This fact was reflected in the assessment of student satisfaction during the pandemic, when our faculty entered the TOP 5 faculties in the Slovak Republic that managed distance learning the best. We are constantly trying to improve not only the classroom space, but also the technical equipment of the spaces intended for students' self-study, including the modernization of the spaces of the UMB Economics Study Room.

  • DISCOVER YOUR CREATIVE POTENTIAL

In the 2024/2025 academic year, we launched the pilot year of the Discover Your Potential development program in cooperation with OZ TEAM. We are the first faculty in Slovakia to launch this unique development project. The goal of Discover Your Potential is to create a platform that will allow young people to discover their potential and talents and develop the necessary competencies. It provides them with tools for self-realization and prepares them for a successful entry into working life in the 21st century. Throughout the program, students are guided by the knowledge of their strengths, which they will also develop thanks to talent mentoring, led by a professional talent mentor.

  • START YOUR BUSINESS

The result of cooperation with practice is also a project focused on discovering startups, implemented in cooperation with the Pelikán company. This is a unique opportunity for you, dear students, to show your innovative potential and receive an investment for its implementation of up to €15,000. The incubator will look for realistic and investment-attractive ideas that solve existing problems or create new market opportunities. The host of this program is Ms. Tatiana Ondrejková, investor and CEO of pelicantravel.com s.r.o., who is behind the successful pelikan.sk project and you also know her from the TV show Jama levova. As part of the Incubator, students have the opportunity to receive capital, mentoring and help with preparing a business plan. In 2025, we will meet the first promising young entrepreneurs. Why can't you be one of them in the future?
