Student Scientific Conference ŠVA 2025

Dear students,
 
We would like to invite you to 31st edition of Student Scientific Conference ŠVA 2025. Students traditionally present the results of their research from various fields of economic and social sciences, quantitative method application and information technologies. The regular organization of this event by Faculty of Economics of Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica has become a long-lasting tradition.
 

Participation in ŠVA 2025 is possible in person or online.

 
All submitted papers will be divided into several sections according their topics. In this event, students present their abilities, analytical skills, creativity, wisdom and own opinion.
 
Moreover, this international conference creates a space for innovative ideas and encourages the education across field of economic sciences.

3. section – Finance, Banking and Investment (contact person for FE MBU students: Michal Ištok)
4. section – Quantitative Methods and Informatics (contact person for FE MBU students: Petra Medveďová)
5. section – Public Economics and Regional Development (contact person for FE MBU students: Mária Murray Svidroňová)
6. section – Social Sciences (contact person for FE MBU students: Ján Kollár)
7. section – Managerial Systems – IMS Poprad (contact person for FE MBU students: Lucia Bartková)
8. section – Section for high school students (contact person: Lukáš Smerek)
* In the case of a lower number of registered works, individual sections may be operationally merged. We will inform you about any changes in time.
 
Special section is created for high school students. High school students will be consulting about subject of papers with school teacher. Students from other faculties may participate in ŠVA 2025, but must be accredited by sending university or school. The paper will be classification in terms of focus of subject.
 
Members of commissions, consisted of teachers and students, will assess the relevance of the topics, the general level of submitted paper, their added value, the use of results for both theoretical and practical development and the level of students´ presentation. The best student of each section will be rewarded. Participation at Student Scientific Conference 2025 improves students´ skills and last but not least this experience might help them to increase their chances on the labor market.
 
The attendance at Student Scientific Conference 2025 is free of charge. Students are allowed to prepare their papers individually, in pairs or in a group (just individually in the case of a scientific essay) under the guidance of a consultant

By filling out the application form and physically participating in the conference, you agree to the processing of personal data for the purpose of "promotion and informing the public" about life and events at MBU, study opportunities at MBU, as well as for the purpose of presenting MBU and its positive promotion in society, while this processing will be in accordance with applicable EU legislation and in accordance with good morals and will not conflict with the interests of the person concerned.
 
Why become involved in ŠVA 2025?
Beside the valuable experience the participants get also 3 or 4 credits (FE MBU students only, depending on their study level – bachelor level 3, master level 4), additionally, they can get bonus points for selection procedure for studying abroad -Erasmus+.

The paper has to be accompanied with assessment of the supervisor.

Proceedings of the conference

Dear students,
 

On April 11, 2024, the 30th annual international student conference - Student Scientific Conference (ŠVA) 2024 was held at the Faculty of Economics of the Matej v Bela University in Banská Bystrica. Students had the opportunity to present their work in the field of economics and social sciences, and students from the field of application of quantitative methods and informatics had the opportunity to present at this international event with a long tradition.

ŠVA 2024 offered students a choice of several sections to which they could submit their work depending on its focus. Through such activities, students could present their talent, analytical skills, creativity, as well as their opinion. ŠVA supports the development of creativity and research activities focused on economic sciences and its benefits for practice.

 
Papers at ŠVA 2024 were divided 8 sections*:
1. section – Tourism (chair Radka Marčeková)
2. section – Business Economics and Management (chair Miroslava Vinczeová)
3. section – Finance, Banking and Investment (chair Michal Mešťan)
4. section – Public Economics and Regional Development (chair: Mária Murray Svidroňová)
5. section – Social Sciences (chair Lenka Theodoulides)
6. section – Managerial Systems – IMS Poprad (chair Zuzana Závadská)
7. section – Section for high school students (chair Lenka Theodoulides)
8. section – Scientific Essay (chair Lenka Theodoulides)
 

Members of the committees in the sections assessed all the papers, especially the topicality of the topic, the added value of the paper, the level of presentation, as well as other aspects. The best students from each section were rewarded.

The conference was intended for students of bachelor's and master's degrees. A special section was also created for high school students. Following the previous experience, the section entitled "Scientific Essay" continued, which was intended for students of university degrees at the Faculty of Economics of the Matej Bel University. In this case, too, the student could choose his/her own topic, after agreement with the selected consultant. The scientific essay aims to present the author's personal opinion on the developed topic, argue confirmation of the thesis and use relevant academic sources, studies and analyses.
