Proceedings of the conference

Dear students,
 
We would like to invite you to 30th edition of Student Scientific Conference 2024 (“SSC”). Students traditionally present the results of their research from various fields of economic and social sciences, quantitative method application and information technologies. The regular organization of this event by Faculty of Economics of Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica has become a long-lasting tradition.
 
All submitted papers will be divided into several sections according their topics. In this event, students present their abilities, analytical skills, creativity, wisdom and own opinion.
 
Moreover, this international conference creates a space for innovative ideas and encourages the education across field of economic sciences.
 
SSC 2024 has 9 sections*:

2. section – Business Economics and Management (contact person: Petra Gundová)
3. section – Finance, Banking and Investment (contact person: Michal Ištok)
4. section – Quantitative Methods and Informatics (contact person: Petra Medveďová)
5. section – Public Economics and Regional Development (contact person: Mária Murray Svidroňová)
6. section – Social Sciences (contact person: Ján Kollár)
7. section – Managerial Systems – IMS Poprad (contact person: Lucia Bartková)
8. section – Section for high school students (contact person: Lukáš Smerek)
9. section – Scientific Essay (contact person: Lukáš Smerek)
* In the case of a lower number of registered works, individual sections may be operationally merged. We will inform you about any changes in time.
 
Special section is created for high school students. High school students will be consulting about subject of papers with school teacher. Students from other faculties may participate in SSC 2024, but must be accredited by sending university or school. The paper will be classification in terms of focus of subject.
 
After last year's experience, the "Scientific Essay" section continues, which is intended for students of undergraduate (BA, MA.) degree studies . Even in this case, the student can choose his/her own topic, after agreement with the chosen consultant. The aim of the scientific essay is to present the author's personal opinion on the developed topic, to argue the confirmation of theses and to use relevant academic sources, studies and analyses.
Note: Essays, like scientific works, will then be presented during the event.
 
Members of commissions, consisted of teachers and PhD. students, will assess the relevance of the topics, the general level of submitted paper, their added value, the use of results for both theoretical and practical development and the level of students´ presentation. The best student of each section will be rewarded. Participation at Student Scientific Conference 2024 improves students´ skills and last but not least this experience might help them to increase their chances on the labor market.
 
The attendance at Student Scientific Conference 2024 is free of charge. Students are allowed to prepare their papers individually, in pairs or in a group (just individually in the case of a scientific essay) under the guidance of a consultant. The consultant's duty also applies to the scientific essay.

By filling out the application form and physically participating in the conference, you agree to the processing of personal data for the purpose of "promotion and informing the public" about life and events at MBU, study opportunities at MBU, as well as for the purpose of presenting MBU and its positive promotion in society, while this processing will be in accordance with applicable EU legislation and in accordance with good morals and will not conflict with the interests of the person concerned.
 
Why become involved in SSC 2024?
Beside the valuable experience the participants get also 3 or 4 credits (FU MBU students only, depending on their study level – bachelor level 3, master level 4), additionally, they can get bonus points for selection procedure for studying abroad -Erasmus+.
 

Deadlines:

February 14, 2024 Titles of students´papers and essays´will be published on the web side of FE MBU

March 5, 2024  Application form and abstract need to be sent electronically

March, 29, 2024 Submission of papers electronically (contact person of the section) - deadline extended to April 5, 2024

April, 8, 2024 Supervisors will submit assessments of theses/essays (contact person of the section)

April 11, 2024 Student Scientific Conference 2024

The paper/essay has to be accompanied with assessment of the supervisor and abstract on separate sheet.
