Danka Švihlová Scholarship
Doc. Ing. Danka Švihlová, PhD. (1953 - 2024) was a gifted researcher, an inspiring teacher and an advocate for sound public policy and women's rights, which are embodied in the goals of the European Union and NATO.
The purpose of the scholarship is to honor the memory of Assoc. Prof. Danka Švihlová by promoting the benefits of Slovakia's membership in the EU and NATO. This aim is to be achieved by encouraging and recognising the contribution of women to scholarly work in the field of Slovak regional studies. The competition for the scholarship is open to any female student attending one or more courses at the Department of Public Economics and Regional Development of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Matej Bel in Banská Bystrica.
Students interested in participating in the competition shall submit a short essay in English of no more than 1,000 words on the topic Promoting the benefits of Slovakia's membership in the EU and NATO by 30 June of the calendar year using this electronic system (for EF UMB students only). The Committee will send entries that meet the thematic focus of the scholarship competition to the donor who will select the winning entry by 30 September of that year. The author of the winning essay will receive a scholarship 1,000 EURO from the donor.
