I really enjoyed the stay in Banská Bystrica. Everything was good organized for our arrival and our stay. The dormitory life is quite different from my country but I still enjoyed it. The only comment I have about the dormitory is that I found it a bit pitty that the doorkeepers can't speak English. For the Erasmus students, it can turn out as a problem.
Concerning the university, I really liked the different courses I chose and the teachers were all very helpful if I had some questions or problems. My buddy also helped me a lot and I am very thankful for it. I could ask him everything. The events organized by the ESN were also very good! They organized a lot of different activities.
In conclusion, I really enjoyed my stay in Banská Bystrica in the dormitory and university. I am very glad to have taken this choice to do my Erasmus in this city and this university. I would make this choice again!

But, also when a the beginning there were problems with the timetable and other, there was always someone there to help us. The international office was very helpfull and kind, we got directly answers to each question. At this moment a big thanks to Mrs Prašovská, who made everything possible ! Moreover, the teachers were also very nice and correct to the Erasmus students. They answered to our questions and were very flexible for the dates of the exam, what I appreciate much! We got the necessary support we needed. I will recommend the UMB for sure in the future!
The dormitory was okay. There was not that much devices (oven, fridge too small, micro-wave), but I assume that this is common. The system with the cleaning lady was a very good point ! The communication with the doorkeepers was complicated as the majority don't speak English, but with body gestrure and google traduction everything is possible. The copy center next door is great ! And thanks to the dormitory life the Erasmus community can get closer together !
I really enjoyed my stay in Banska Bystrica and at the UMB. The negative side was the lack of information in the first days. For me, there should be more information about AIS system and moodle system. (for example, how to vision the points and how to join in for examination). There should have been a second meeting for better performing the time table. I had the impression that at the beginning we were let alone. Also, one negative point is that the welcome days are at the same time with the beginning of the school. This is a bit stressful to get all administrative things done at the same time than getting along with finding the classrooms and so on... One last negative things is that we didn't get a guided tour through the school.
A great experience in Slovakia !
